CAPITAL OF CULTURE 2008

Liverpool City Council required an external Pod to reflect the importance of the Capital of Culture status bestowed upon it for 2008, to deliver Council and other services and advertising across the city. The key driver for the unit was that it was to "Support the image of a positive forward thinking city, organically shaped, to complement the unique architectural infrastructure within it".

The Prime contractor BT provided the technology and managed the software interface in conjunction with LCC to provide the ideal information portal.

The design of the Pod was conceptualised and designed in a series of tri-party workshops by IQon's director whilst with the manufacturing giant GKN.

Liverpool City Council decided to launch the prototype unit as a piece of street-art at the Tate Gallery in Liverpool's prestigious Albert dock.
